Oh yes, it’s that time of year again here in NYC. Spring 2010 Fashion Week began this week, along with the welcome addition of Fashion’s Night Out. I heard a few photographer’s grumbling about having to shoot FNO…and admittedly, it was a freaking mad house, nevertheless I completely loved it as I usually love all things fashion related.
Unfortunately I’m not able to shoot in the tents without a press pass, though I’ve thought about trying to sneak by more than once. Thursday I shot the Stem Designs presentation by Gabrielle Morales & Jacqueline Rank in a Breakout Designer Series at the Scandinavia House.
Thursday evening I tried to get a few shots in while also enjoying FNO. As I said, it was pretty much insanity. Lines around the block in some cases. Bergdorf’s was flooded with people…probably everyone was breaking city fire codes. I missed out seeing many of the designers I had wanted to, BUT not one of the best! I got to see Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte at Barneys! Then I spent a lot of time in the 57th Street Chanel store, drinking champagne and getting my make-up done.
Love it! Anyway, Friday night I went to shoot the Generra store opening on Washington St. Great area and the store is right across the street from an entrance to the High Line. Will post a few photos from that later perhaps, but you can see me here: Getty Images. Haha, when I’m at an event as a photographer I’m not usually asked to have my photo take, so this was rather amusing. I was pretty pleased with my outfit, though I should have worn my slate gray colored tights instead I think.
All in all it’s been a crazy busy week. I possibly have two other after parties to attend in the coming week, one of which I may be shooting at, sadly I can’t shoot the show because it’s at 10am on Tuesday and my day job kind of gets in the way. Though I’d really love to get one runway show in…perhaps it will happen. At least I feel like I’m starting to get myself out there and am meeting some other photographer’s, and it’s always great to talk to them about what they’re doing/have done, get some tips and hear some interesting anecdotes.
