The Tilt-Shift

I came across this video via FlyLyf:

Titled “Hulkamania” and shot by Keith Loutit, I’m pretty intrigued at the effect this lens has, sort of creating the appearance of a miniaturized version of a scene. To be honest, I’ve never really gotten a good look at tilt-shift photography, much less a video using such a lens. As I began watching this my first thought was how much it reminded me of claymation.

According to Loutit’s Vimeo page the video was shot on Nikon D3 and D3s. Unfortunately my D2xs doesn’t have the ability to shoot HD video, but I’d LOVE to try out a tilt-shift lens anyway.

I did a little searching and discovered Keith’s blog, and learned that he’s based in Australia which is pretty cool in my book. Lately I’ve really been thinking about how much I’d love to take a trip to Australia, or perhaps even try to work there for a while. It would be an amazing location to photograph.

His work is interesting, using tilt-shift lenses and I imagine other types of equipment to create a unique perspective in an image or video. Check it out!
