I came across a great career advice piece for the creative, and in particular, the fashion set. Fashionista asked a stylist, a fashion journalist, a jewelry designer, a creative director (Joe Zee!), a casting director, and of course, a fashion photographer, a few questions about how they got to where they are in their careers.
Definitely some good advice and bits of wisdom to take to heart.

Now, you might think, “easier said than done.” But, remember, these folks DID do it. I think it’s this mindset that makes the difference, that can make you or break you so to speak. The thing that sets apart those who are successful, in any industry really, from those who fall short of their goals, is simply this: they didn’t give up. When they were told “no” they didn’t back down.
It can be hard sometimes, to try to keep oneself in that state of mind. When something comes along that knocks you down, the easy thing to do is give up. So, I’m going to try to remember their advice and take in advice from anyone else who will give it because there is a lot you can learn and it even helps to know that while they’re successful now, they too didn’t always have it easy trying to break into the business.
