Location is always an important factor to consider when planning a photo shoot. I discussed location scouting a bit previously here. So, I thought I’d share one simple tip. Whether you’re carrying a professional camera body and lenses around everyday or find it easier to use the camera on your phone, the point is, have a camera with you! At all times! Why? I find that I’m always stopping to snap a photo here or there of a potential location for a shoot. Anything at all that catches my eye and might create a nice backdrop for a shoot, I always take a photo. If possible, I also make a note of the location, sometimes I even snap a photo of the cross streets so that I can remember where it was.
Lately I find I’ve been very interested in churches around the city:
- Church, Upper East Side
I love the architecture, the combination of darkness and lightness and the fact that they seem sort of enclosed, like it’s a separate little world. I would absolutely LOVE to shoot at one of these churches, so beautiful.
