Nice la Belle, of the Côte d’Azur. In keeping with last week’s Friday Photo Inspiration travel post, I thought next I would share some of my photos from a trip to Nice several years ago:
Nice is a lovely place to visit on the south east coast of France, and if you have a chance to go I would recommend it. They had a nice little market when i visited with fresh fruit, vegetables, spices, flowers and other items.
Some lavender was among the items in the market and smelled wonderful.
I don’t really recall what these were exactly…decorative soaps perhaps? Mostly I just loved how bright and colorful they were.
We grabbed some fresh strawberries at the market as an afternoon snack and headed to the beach to relax. It was too cold at the time to bother going into the water, but it was lovely just sitting and looking out at the ocean.
The beach in Nice is different from the soft, sandy shores many of you are probably used to and is instead made up entirely of the smooth, rounded stones. I’ve actually wondered if theseBurberry ads were shot in Nice because it looks so similar to me.
The water was so blue, it was absolutely beautiful.
There’s an elevated area as well that you can either walk up via a staircase or take l’ascenseurand you get a stunning view of Nice.
I can see Nice being a little slow-paced for some, especially if, like me, you’re used to much more of an urban, city environment. However, I actually think Nice would be a nice place to live (haha, Nice, nice…).
There’s also a really pretty park as well as a great Chagall museum (I happen to really like Marc Chagall’s work). A few other tips about Nice: it’s very walkable so you don’t need to drive or constantly take a taxi, you can find fairly affordable accommodations (I was a student at the time I visited if that gives you any indication of budget), the pizza and seafood are excellent, and it’s also a great location to take short day trips to other coastal hot spots from, with Cannes and St. Tropez not too far:
I actually did a day trip to St. Tropez with my friends…but that’s a story for another post. You’ll definitely want some tips for that trip so you don’t make the same mistakes we made!
Have a lovely weekend!
