Two days ago was the official lighting ceremony, cérémonie d’illuminations, to flip the switch for the lights along the Champs-Élysées for the holidays. As this is the first time I’ve ever been in Paris around the holidays I had to check it out. Audrey Tautou, who I’m sure most of you know from Amélie, was there to help in the celebration too!Along the Champs-Élysées now there is also a holiday market, with little shop booths lining either side of the avenue. I have to say, I think Christmas Champs-Élysées is definitely better than the usual, non-decorated version. Although, I’m not quite sure about the lights they selected this year.Instead of the classic white lights in the trees they installed three circular lighting pieces in each. I guess they were going for something more modern? I’m not really sure and I think I would prefer the more classic look, but these change color which is sort of fun. You can see the Arc de Triomphe way down one end of the avenue, and at the opposite end is a Ferris wheel:Not gonna lie, I’m pretty excited about this and really want to go up! Plus, can you imagine the fantastic view?!And is it just me, or do all of the carousels (of which there are many in Paris) just seem to fit in so perfectly with the festive holiday decor? Love it.You can also find other lights and holiday decor all around the Champs-Élysées. Even some fake snow, which I find a little confusing because Paris gets real snow anyway. And just because it looked cool, le métro:I hope everyone who celebrated had a fantastic Thanksgiving day!
