Getting into the holiday spirit, I did a day trip to check out Strasbourg recently. Located in the Alsace region of France, Strasbourg is a little more than 2 hours by train from Paris. 
Since Strasbourg is located close to the border of Germany there is a lot of German influence on the architecture.
It even started snowing! That really added to the Christmas ambiance, since there are Christmas markets all over the place. I saw more than one sign billing itself as the “Capitale de Noël.”

If you ever have a chance to visit around the holidays, it’s a great place to go for a day or two to browse the markets and get yourself in the mood for all things Christmas.
